Last call for champagne (class)

My elegant Sparkling Wine and Champagne class is now less than two weeks away, and there are still a few seats left. Registration ends on March 4. The 2-hour class is Thursday, March 14 from 7-9 p.m. at the beautiful Nesmith House in Lowell. We’ll be tasting 6-8 sparklers, including Spanish cava, Italian Prosecco, plus American sparkling wines and French champagne, and pairing them with foods. If you want to build an appreciation for sparkling wines, and learn how to select a special party libation at a fair price, this night is for you. Sparkling wines are more popular than ever, but you don’t have to break the budget to put on a lavish party that features an exceptional bubbly. I’ve got an American sparkler from New Mexico and another from California that cost less than $18 and you’ll never know the difference if I tore off the label and marked them French champagne. Of course, there is nothing like French champagne – and we’ll learn why. But you should also understand the options that are out there for simple celebrations and more complex affairs. I can’t afford to drink champagne every day, so that’s why I have six bottles of Prosecco, cava and Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine in my cellar for my pleasant mood swings. You should too. Life is a celebration and sparkling wine is for all occasions. To register for the class, which costs $95, call Middlesex Community College at 1-800-818-3434. This is an adult education program and you must be aged 21 and over to participate. My thanks for your support. Now let’s have some bubbly fun!
