Wilson Creek's Peach Bellini: A unique holiday sparkler

There’s one definite on my list, and I got it several weeks ago from Sam Messina of the Wine ConneXtion.
At the time of the store’s Grand Wine Tasting event, Sam said Wilson Creek Winery Sparkling Peach Bellini ($12.99) from Temecula Valley, Calif., would steal the show. I tasted it and he was right.
I drank my first Bellini (Prosecco, white peach juice) in 2001 in the very place where the drink was invented, Harry’s Bar in Venice. On the previous day, Julia Roberts was in the same bar to celebrate her Academy Award-winning Best Actress Oscar for the movie Erin Brokovich. So I remember it well.
Wilson Creek’s Peach Bellini costs a lot less than one glass of the Harry’s Bar sparkler, yet it’s equally spectacular, vibrant and refreshing. Pour it in a flute and a beautiful pink-orange color comes into form. Tiny bubbles erupt along with seductive floral aromas. The best part though is the slightly sweet, tingly taste of peach, pear and almonds. It’s appealingly elegant.
