It's May Day for wine tastings in the Valley

Several free wine tasting events are filling up the May calendar, beginning on Saturday, May 4, at Tutto Bene Wine & Cheese Cellar in Lowell.
Richard “Riccardo” Rouke is planning a fabulolus take-off on the Kentucky Derby, which will be contested later in the day at venerable Churchill Downs. He’s schedule a Run for the Rosés Wine Tasting, from 1-4 p.m. at the Prescott Street shop.
Rourke says, “We’ll be sampling many rosé and pink wines, fun and refreshing, getting you ready for some springtime sipping.”
Several brand new wines to be tasted are: Vitiano Rosé (Italy), Chateau Virgile Rosé (France), Zibibbo Pink Moscato, Regaleali Rosé, and Boston Winery Brachetto.
The store’s deal for the day is spectacular: Buy any six bottles and get a 10 percent discount on the purchase. Tell him the Wine Wizard sent you, and get  15 percent off a case.

On Saturday, May 11, Andover Liquors in the Shawsheen Plaza (Main Street) will be holding a tasting from from 3-5 p.m. featuring products from the Charles River Wine Co. of Massachusetts. This is a unique event, since under-the-radar winemakers from California’s Napa Valley will be on display for public sampling.
Some of the label that might be on hand are: Waterstone, Mandolin Cahdonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah; Varner Brothers’ Chardonnay; Foxglove; County Line and Fleur.
A week later, on Saturday, May 18, the Wine ConneXtion in North Andover will hold a “Big, Bold Chardonnays” wine tasting from 1-5 p.m.
